Applying for Cybersecurity jobs in Germany

Security roles include SOC analysts, security engineers, penetration testers and governance, risk and compliance (GRC) specialists. Postings ask for SIEM and EDR tools, cloud security, incident response and frameworks such as ISO 27001 or NIST, and certifications often carry real weight.

List certifications with their year, name the tools you have operated, and quantify your work where possible: alerts triaged, incidents handled, audits passed.

Germany actively recruits skilled people from abroad, especially in IT, engineering and healthcare. Most non-EU applicants come on an EU Blue Card or another skilled-worker permit, which generally needs a recognised degree or qualification and a job offer; the Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) lets qualified people come to look for work. Salary thresholds and requirements change, so check the government's official portal, Make it in Germany.

Many tech teams, particularly in Berlin and Munich, work in English, while roles in sales, HR and the public sector usually need good German. Recruiters expect a tabular CV, the Lebenslauf: see our guide to the German CV and the free Lebenslauf templates.
